Carbonados, or black diamonds, are the only found in Brazil and the Central African Rebublic.

Unlike other diamonds, they contain no minerals characteristic of the Earth's mantle, where it is believed those other diamonds formed. Their origin is disputed, with an extraterrestrial location being as likely as anywhere.

Result of a "WTF are they?" in a crossword a couple minutes ago, and a subsequent Wiki perusal.

The Guillotine was used in France as their way of carrying out the death sentence until 1977. It was only banned in France (when they stopped the death penalty) in 1981.

Ironically, the last person to be legally beheaded in the western world was a Muslim- Hamida Djandoubi who tortured and murdered a French girl.

In French as you know you don't pronouce the H. Eg Les Hommes. And as such you pronounce the 's' so phonetically 'Lez om. '

Biut for foreign words like Halles or Haricourt you do. hence the 's' is silent.

Les Halles phonetically is 'Lay Halles'

And we have it in Englkish. An hour. No H pronounced

Octopuses have nine brains. One for each arm and one in their head to coordinate. It is a distributed system and each arm is capable of making decisions as to what to explore independently.

When my dad was a kid (in the 1940s) he lived in North Woolwich and he used to tell me it was actually part of Kent. I used to think this was his usual nonsense, but actually was historically part of the Manor of Woolwich, and the north side belonged to Woolwich/Kent to control the ferry charges. It then became part of London County Council while East and West Ham remained County Boroughs of Essex. North Woolwich was officially separate from the surrounding East and West Ham boroughs until Newham was formed in 1965.
So the old man was right

Elton John and Kiki Dee had a hit, back in the seventies, called “Don’t go breaking my heart” and they have never sung it live together. Elton and Kiki recorded their separate parts and it was stitched together by their record company and released. Subsequently the pair met up at a BBC studio and mimed to a playback so that this video could be played on TotP.
